I always forget how busy January is as a Nutritionist…It never fails.
Its interesting that it takes a new year- the starting of a new cycle, phase, stage…to inspire us to act on the changes we wish to make. It seems that a fresh start with the new year (and the binging of the holidays) is always enough to give us that little extra push.
My advice is: use it! Act on your desire to change. Whatever has motivated you to even think about change, learning, growing… it is a fantastic opportunity to evolve..be more radiant, helathy…inspired…awesome.
By request, here is my recipe for a new year elixir- a cleansing beverage, to help tone the liver, reactivate enzymes and stimulate your digestion. Drink it 3 times a day before meals or for the robust, in place of a meal or 2. Nothing too crazy. “Cleansing” can be as simple as purifying your diet and your mind. Replacing meat and refined non foods with vegetables, relaxing, meditating, steaming, saunaing, bathing, scrubbing, yoga… (Pretty simple). Cleansing is meant to be non-aggressive and restorative. If you are “hot” person- go light on the ginger.
Toning Elixir (Recipe enough for 1 day- drink 1 cup x3/ day)
6 cups of water
A thumbs worth of grated fresh organic ginger
Boil for 20 minutes and let cool to warm temp
Add 1 tablespoon of raw organic apple cider vineager
1 teaspon of raw honey
grated rind of 1/2 a lemon
Juice from 1-2 lemons
Let steep for 10 minutes & Drink!
